Downloads & Sign-in

SphereHarness has its own small browser, separate from your Chrome or Edge. The AI uses it to open a vendor or model site, find the right file and download it for you. Some sites want you to sign in first. When that happens, SphereHarness stops and asks you. It never signs in for you.

Asking for a download

Download the STEP model of a 6204 bearing from the manufacturer's site
Find an engine assembly on GrabCAD and download it

The browser window opens on your screen the first time it is used. The first time the AI opens each new site, it asks you to approve that site. Every downloaded file is saved to your download folder (C:\CADTest\downloads unless you ask for another, e.g. “download it into C:\Projects\Chair”) with its size and SHA-256 checksum. Downloaded files are never run.

When a site needs you to sign in

If the download page, or the page it leads to, asks for a sign-in, SphereHarness notices. The signs it looks for:

  • a sign-in form (a password box) on the page;
  • the site sending the browser to a sign-in or company single sign-on (SSO) page;
  • the site refusing the page or the file (“401 Unauthorized”, “403 Forbidden”);
  • a notice such as “Sign in to download” or “Members only”.

When it sees one, the AI stops and asks you whether you want to sign in to that site, naming it, and then waits for your answer.

  • Yes: the page stays open in the SphereHarness browser window. Sign in there yourself. SphereHarness never types, asks for or stores your password. As soon as you are signed in, the AI continues and downloads the file. Your sign-in is remembered in the SphereHarness browser (%LOCALAPPDATA%\CADCoPilot\WebView2), so next time that site usually lets it straight in.
  • No: the AI stops there. Tell it what to do next.

Or let SphereHarness fill a saved sign-in. In a desktop program's log-in dialog, or on a website in your own Chrome or Edge (not this built-in browser), SphereHarness can fill a password you keep in Windows Credential Manager and registered in Settings → Saved sign-ins for automation. The AI still never sees, asks for or types the password: it clicks into the password box and asks SphereHarness to fill it, you approve the card, and the AI is told only “filled”. See Saved Sign-ins.

It will not quietly go to a different website instead. If you would rather it looked elsewhere, say so in your request, e.g. “download a 6204 bearing STEP model; if a login is needed, find another site”. Only then does it search for a site that needs no sign-in — and only legitimate public sources. It never offers or fetches an unofficial mirror or a re-hosted copy of a vendor's sign-in-protected files: that is a copyright and malware risk.

Where the browser runs

The browser is part of the SphereHarness desktop agent, and it is the same browser whichever CAD system you are working in. The CAD add-ins do not include a browser, which keeps them small and quick to load.

Checking your downloads later

Where did the bearing download go?
List what you downloaded today

The AI checks the download folder rather than recalling a path from memory, and gives you each file's full path.
